The Victorian Government is currently developing a whole of government mental health strategy which will provide a long term framework for reform. The strategy will replace the current policy framework New Directions for Mental Health services which was launched in September 2002. The challenge of providing a responsive and timely service system to individuals with mental illness can only be achieved through cooperation and service integration across a range of sectors. The new Mental Health Strategy will be informed by the outcomes of community forums to be held in the North and West Metro Region. There will be two four hour forums on the 12 & 13 November 2007. Please find attached an invite to attend either session. These forums will include managers and clinicians from a wide range of service sectors and provide an opportunity to contribute to the reform process. We look forward to seeing you at one of the sessions. Danny O'Kelly A/Manager Primary and Complex Care North and West Metropolitan Region
